Structural Steel Welder
Capital Professional Staffing is recruiting for experienced Structural Steel Welders for the night shift of a growing structural steel and industrial fabrication operation in Tyler, Texas.
These are production fabrication positions requiring previous structural steel or heavy metal fabrication shop experience. Candidates must have strong wire-feed Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) experience and be capable of producing quality structural welds in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
The company has invested in new, state-of-the-art fabrication equipment and has substantial production work underway.
• Weld beams, columns, plate, structural shapes, connections, and other fabricated steel components
• Read and interpret structural steel shop drawings and fabrication drawings
• Read and understand weld symbols and welding requirements
• Set and adjust welding equipment appropriately for the work being performed
• Perform multi-pass welds as required
• Inspect welds and completed work for quality and conformance
• Identify and correct welding defects when necessary
• Perform grinding, cleaning, preparation, and related fabrication work
• Work closely with fitters and other shop personnel to maintain production flow
• Maintain productivity while consistently producing quality welds
• Follow established welding procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices
• Maintain welding equipment and work area
• Strong FCAW wire-feed welding experience required
• Experience welding structural carbon steel
• Ability to read structural steel shop drawings
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols
• Strong understanding of fit-up, joint preparation, welding sequence, and weld quality
• Ability to perform consistent production welding during long shifts
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced structural steel fabrication environment
• Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their welding ability as part of the hiring process
• $35-$40 per hour based on experience and qualifications
• Overtime paid in addition to base hourly rate

QUALIFICATIONS
• Structural steel or heavy metal fabrication shop experience required• Strong FCAW wire-feed welding experience required
• Experience welding structural carbon steel
• Ability to read structural steel shop drawings
• Ability to read and understand weld symbols
• Strong understanding of fit-up, joint preparation, welding sequence, and weld quality
• Ability to perform consistent production welding during long shifts

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
• Currently operating 7 days per week with substantial overtime• $35-$40 per hour based on experience and qualifications
• Overtime paid in addition to base hourly rate
