Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll accounting and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Manage and process payroll for the firm's clients, ensuring timely and accurate payment of wages.
  • Compliance: Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and reporting.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, payroll deductions, and benefits administration.
  • Reconciliation: Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Reporting: Prepare payroll reports for management and clients, providing insights and recommendations as needed.
  • Client Communication: Address client inquiries related to payroll, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Software Utilization: Use payroll software and accounting systems to manage payroll processes efficiently.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of payroll accounting experience, preferably in a CPA firm or professional services environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in ADP, QuickBooks and Zero payroll software (e.g. Paychex) and accounting systems
    • Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or similar certification
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with cloud-based payroll solutions
